Zach Bryan apologizes for Taylor Swift’s comments about Kanye West

Zach Bryan has some regrets.

After declaring on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday that he prefers Kanye “Ye” West to Taylor Swift, the musician has since deactivated his account on the platform and published a detailed apology in his Instagram stories with songs by the global star.

“To the record people: I wasn’t here for Taylor the other day,” he began his first of four posts on the platform. “I was drunk comparing two records and it came out wrong. I know there are a lot of things floating around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray you know I’m human and often tweet stupid things. Hopefully I can explain that to her one day. Twitter gets me in trouble too often and I’d say it’s best if I stay away from it. I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I’ve upset or disappointed. I love you and I’m doing my best!”

In his second post, the singer-songwriter noted that he was going through “a rough time” in his own life and was “projecting a bit.” “To be completely honest, it just came across as rude and desensitized to Taylor,” he added. “I respect her so much as a musician that the last thing I want is for people to think I don’t appreciate and love what she’s done as a musician. OK, that’s it! I love you guys and hope you understand.”

That wasn’t the end of it, however. Bryan then shared that he wasn’t trying to save face, “but Taylor has been a force of nature since we were kids and I admire that.” He noted that he will listen to her song “Castles Crumbling” and that he never wants people to think he’s evil or mean to anyone, especially Swift.

He concluded his posts by saying that this year has meant a lot to him in personal ways that no one knows about and that he has been trying to deal with too many things at once and find balance.

“So I’m going to take a break from stupid tweeting, finish my tour and kind of ground myself in the midst of all this,” he said. “I feel very, very blessed every day. It’s been so important to me to not take it for granted and hold on to it. OK, I had to get that off my chest, y’all are the best and I’ll see you at Bourbon and Beyond,” an upcoming festival.

Bryan and Swift both have songs in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 album charts this week, as The “Tortured Poets” section sits at number 5, while Bryans The great American bar scene is two places below at number 7. West’s latest album, Vulture 2has completely disappeared from the Billboard 200 charts.
