Your iPhone 16 may get its first Apple Intelligence features later this month

The iPhone 16, despite its previous marketing, still does not have Apple Intelligence. According to information, this will change on October 28th with the release of iOS 18.1 Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman in today’s Turn on newsletter.

The update will bring AI-powered notification summaries, writes Gurman. Although he only gives this example, the iOS 18.1 beta also includes some Siri improvements (such as better understanding when stumbling over words), along with writing tools and a new rainbow-colored graphic with glowing borders when you open Siri a phone call or iPad.

Apple Intelligence only runs on the iPhone 15 Pro and later, but it’s also available in beta for Macs and iPads with Apple silicon chips (M1 and later), so you might be able to get it even if you don’t have those iPhones to try out. Looking ahead, it is rumored to be supported on the next iPhone SE as well.

We still have to wait for some of the most important Apple Intelligence features. Siri, which performs tasks for you across multiple apps and uses your information as context, wasn’t part of the betas – that may not come until March next year. More features, including Apple’s Image Playground and Genmoji, could be available in December.
