Widespread rain is expected for the rest of the week, with the tropics in sight by mid-week

Today it will start to rain really heavily, and isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible for the rest of the week.

Right now, it looks like today will be our coldest day of the week, with a moderate warming toward Thursday. The warm air and moisture will pile up over us until we reach the cold front.

We could expect 1 to 2 inches of rain today, with the heaviest storms coming later in the day and tonight. Some stronger storms could exceed the criteria for severe weather, with strong winds expected in many of the stronger storms. Expect more rain over the next few days as well.

Wednesday and Thursday will bring more rain and warm temperatures. In some places we may reach 27 degrees, but it will remain cloudy and rainy so it won’t be too hot. Thursday will be one of the drier days of the week, with rain more likely towards the end of the day and into the evening.

There is uncertainty towards the end of the week as we may be in for some tropical mischief. Currently, the tropical system is expected to form by Wednesday and make landfall along the Florida Panhandle on Thursday. Whatever moisture remains will be upon us on Friday, meaning we could see quite a bit of rain.
