The Mets are headed to the playoffs.

After a late win over the Atlanta Braves on Monday afternoon in the first leg of a doubleheader, New York secured a spot in the Wild Card round of the 2024 postseason. It’s a huge accomplishment for the club, which started the year 0-5 and had eleven games under .500 about two months into the season.

So with the season still underway, what’s next for the Mets? Here’s what we know ahead of Game 2 of the doubleheader with the Braves.

Who will the Mets play in the playoffs?

The Mets’ playoff opponent in the Wild Card round will be determined after Game 2 on Monday. In any case, the club will begin the postseason away from home

With a win over the Braves, the Mets will be the No. 5 seed and begin the postseason in San Diego against the Padres. With a split, the Mets will be the No. 6 seed and travel to Milwaukee to play the Brewers.

What is the Mets’ playoff schedule?

No matter who they play, the Mets will begin the postseason in a best-of-three series on Tuesday.

If they play the Padres, the first game is at 8:38 p.m. ET. When the series begins in Milwaukee, Game 1 will take place at 5:32 p.m. ET.

The Mets would then play on Wednesday and again on Thursday if a Game 3 is necessary. The National League Division Series would begin on Saturday, October 5th.

What does the Mets playoff roster look like?

The Mets’ postseason roster would have to be determined before Game 1 of the Wild Card Series. That won’t be final until after the Braves series.
