Who is the Brewers starting pitcher tonight? Tobias Myers stats vs. Mets

Tobias Myers will get the ball in the game of his life on Thursday night.

The right-handed pitcher will start for the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of their National League wild card series against the New York Mets.

Myers was a revelation for the Brewers after being called up from the minors in late April, and he will now look to help send the team to the National League Divisional Series. On the other side, the Brewers face Mets left-hander Jose Quintana.

Almost immediately at the start of the 2024 season, the Brewers faced significant injuries to their starting team.

Enter Tobias Myers.

He delivered for the Brewers and then some. Just two years ago, in his seventh minor league season, Myers went 1-15 with a 7.82 ERA in Class AAA, falling to three teams.

The Brewers signed him and now, two years later, he is the team’s best pitcher.

He pitched his first big league game on April 23 and never left the rotation. He started in 25 games and was instrumental in stabilizing the rotation.

The 26-year-old Myers led the Brewers’ starters with a 3.00 ERA and had the best ERA in baseball during a three-month period beginning in June. For the season, he had a WHIP of 1.17, posted 127 strikeouts, and finished the season with a 9-6 record.

At a time when it’s rare for the Brewers’ starters to go seven or eight innings, Myers has shown he can be that pitcher. He went eight innings twice in shutout wins. In the first such game, on June 7 on the road against the Detroit Tigers, he allowed just one hit in eight innings in the Brewers’ 10-0 win. The other eight-inning gem came on July 10th on the road against the Pittsburgh Pirates in a 9-0 win.

In the Brewers’ final regular-season series, Myers pitched four scoreless innings in Milwaukee’s 6-0 win last Saturday night at American Family Field.

He allowed just one hit, struck out five and didn’t allow a walk.
