Election Day in the United States falls on Tuesday, November 5th. However, North Carolina is one of the many states where early voting is also possible.
The 2024 presidential election is less than two months away. If you plan to cast your vote before November 5, here’s what you need to know about early and absentee voting parameters in NC

How does early voting work?
The early voting process is simple, but only available on certain days. Find your voting precinct at gis.buncombecounty.org/districts/ and visit on one of the following days to cast your vote early.

When is the deadline for early voting?
Early voting in Buncombe and Henderson counties Start: Thursday, October 17, 8 a.m. and ends Saturday, November 2nd, 3pm

How does postal voting work?
Request a mail-in ballot through the NCSBE’s mail-in ballot portal at votebymail.ncsbe.gov/app/home no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Tuesday before Election Day (October 29). These requests will be sent to the appropriate county board of elections, which will mail the ballot to the address provided.
Originally, ballots were scheduled to be mailed out starting September 6. However, after former presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. dropped out of the race and asked to have his name removed from the ballot, the date was pushed back to September 20.

When is the deadline for postal voting?
The deadline for applying for postal voting is October 29 at 5 p.m. Postal voting documents must be handed in personally to the electoral committee or received by post by the time the polling stations close on election day: November 5th at 19:30
