In a shocking twist, Carlos (Rafael Silva)’s father Gabriel, a Texas Ranger, was gunned down in his own home by an unknown assailant, leaving Carlos obsessed with finding his father’s killer.
TK and Carlos got married
TK (Ronen Rubinstein) and Carlos initially called off their wedding after Gabriel’s murder, but then decided not to wait. They tied the knot in the presence of their friends and family, with firefighter Paul (Brian Michael Smith) performing the ceremony.
Judd’s son Wyatt was paralyzed after a traffic accident
Wyatt (Jackson Pace), the teenage son that Judd (Jim Parrack) never knew was the father of, first appeared in Season 3. The two had become close and Wyatt was even training to be a firefighter like his father until he was hit by a car while riding his bike. He survived but was paralyzed from the waist down. Judd decided to end his firefighting career and become Wyatt’s full-time caregiver.
Owen met his half-brother Daniel
When Owen Strand (Rob Lowe) learned that his estranged father was dying, he traveled to his deathbed. There he met his father’s other family, which included his half-brother Robert (played by Lowe’s real-life brother Chad Lowe). Robert spent more time getting to know Owen, then revealed his secret: He had Huntington’s disease, a degenerative genetic disorder that would only get worse. And he wanted Owen to help him die.
Tommy has found a new love
After the devastating sudden death of her husband Charles, Tommy (Gina Torres) had a brief affair with her brother-in-law Julius (Nathan Owens), a musician, before finding love again with Pastor Trevor Parks (DB Woodside). But first she had to overcome her own doubts and those of his prepubescent daughter Melody (Bella Blanding), who she immediately disliked.
Marjan left the 126, separated from her fiancé and found someone new
Marjan (Natacha Karam) had an eventful fourth season: After being blackmailed into an apology by a couple she rescued, she briefly left the 126 and went on a road trip, which of course involved her coming to the aid of a victim of domestic violence. She eventually returned to her job, but her personal life was also greatly altered: Her fiancé Salim (Mena Massoud), to whom she had been promised since childhood, told her he had found someone else… unless she wanted to get married right away. After saying no, she realized she loved him more than she thought after all, but she was alarmed by how quickly he was willing to leave his new girlfriend for her. She reluctantly got back on the dating scene – with a chaperone – and started dating Joe (real name Yusuf): he was her escort at TK and Carlos’ wedding.
Paul met an old friend again (and they became more than just friends)
Paul didn’t have much luck on the show: whenever a new woman found out he was trans, it was over. But when he met human resources employee Asha (Amanda Payton), she recognized him from her elementary school days despite his gender reassignment. He didn’t have to reveal his true identity to her, but he did have to wrestle with his feelings about her knowing his whole life story. When the season came to an end, the two were still on good terms.
