NEW MUSIC TO STREAM IN SEPTEMBER. 23-29

– Remember the first time you heard it “Million Dollar Baby”? The rap record feels like it came out of nowhere — like so many TikTok hits — but endures, evolving from the hit song of the spring to the hit song of the spring Hit song of the summer the hit song of autumn and beyond. But now fans of Tommy Richman can delve deeper into his musical abilities when he releases the full-length album “Coyote” on Friday. Little is known about the 11-track release, but lead singles “Whitney,” a disco-funk-electro detour, and “Thought You Were the One” — a hook-heavy R&B ballad — suggest a range close.

— Serj Tankian, frontman of the Grammy-winning Armenian-American nu-metal band system of a down, will release a short solo EP called “Foundations” on Friday. The release maintains his band’s wear and tear but experiments with different forms of sonic rebellion. The single “AF day” is, for example, a kind of psychedelic punk treatise on the absurdity of everyday life. And it sounds explosive.

— There’s nothing predictable about the band Being Dead’s second album, “EELS,” produced by Grammy winnerJohn Congleton. Across 16 tracks that range from asymmetrical egg-punk to devo-worship to a bus driver recording, it has enough timeless, almost psychedelic harmonies and various other strange sensibilities to make them the best college radio rock band in recent history – Being Dead’s organized chaos is both forward-thinking and familiar.
