Dance in August

The Tanz im August festival, presented by HAU Hebbel am Ufer, returns with 18 cutting-edge contemporary dance performances across ten venues. This year’s program includes international artists exploring migration, memory, and the intersections of dance and environmental awareness. Through various forms and media, the festival offers a powerful critique of current global issues while envisioning a world where differences are valued and solidarity transcends borders.

Now Wave: Beth B – Glowing

Visit silent green for an extensive exhibition and retrospective, Now Wave: Beth B – Glowing, which celebrates the world of artist and filmmaker Beth B. The exhibition spans over 45 years of her career and features numerous world premieres, including the Core, Glowinga three-channel video installation activated by live performances that addresses feelings of emotional pain, disability and addiction. The retrospective The war is never over It will feature films from Beth B’s career, as well as discussions and live performances from artists such as Lydia Lunch and Jim Coleman. Organysmo

Organysmo is a digital art exhibition in Berlin that focuses on the convergence of art and technology, presenting a surreal temple where light, movement and sound converge in space. As music transforms into images and light objects vibrate with sound, one begins to realize that each space is digitally and conceptually connected, while the acoustic and visual expression of each room is synchronized on a strict timeline.

Friday

Irish Festival Berlin

Bring a bit of Celtic spirit to your weekend at the seventh edition of the Irish Festival Berlin at the ufaFabrik. The program includes artists such as Zoë Conway & John McIntyre, BenSands and others as well as two Irish dance schools. Both evenings will be followed by an open-air session with traditional music that will accompany you into the night.

Over three weekends, the Schlüterhof will be transformed into an exciting meeting place for film enthusiasts with open-air film screenings. The festival offers a unique opportunity to get to know some of the most popular and influential films from all over the world. The program includes six current box office hits from places like Ho Chi Minh City, Rio and Bangkok (many of which are making their German cinema debut).

Coppi X Low Pass

Coppi and Lowpass present a cross-genre club night on two floors with deep and dubby sounds from Kia, LOIF and Emily Jeanne on a bespoke sound system. For this special evening they have assembled an exceptional lineup of international talent to create two different moods: techno on one floor and trips and grooves on the other. The venue will be announced to those who have purchased tickets on the day of the event.

Saturday

Rave the Planet

This weekend sees the return of Rave the Planet, a party demo with a glorious history. Its predecessor, the Loveparade, began in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall and brought techno to the city for many generations to come. Join the event to promote peace and the preservation of electronic music culture in Berlin and celebrate its cultural and social achievements.

Fans of the Botanical Night can look forward to a magical evening for children in the picturesque Britzer Garden this weekend. The garden is transformed into four magical lands: the land of the dwarves with its clay village in the east, the land of the giants in the west, a dragon’s nest in the north and the realm of scholars and storytellers in the south. Against the backdrop of lakes, bridges, flower meadows and forests, interactive stations and fascinating light shows await you and your little ones all night long.

Pottery art market in the Späth tree nurseries

At the Pottery Art Market in Treptow, master potters and ceramicists come together to showcase and sell a variety of hand-crafted vessels, vases and sculptures. Held at the Späth Garden Centre, the market features beautiful pieces from regional and international ceramic workshops, including garden sculptures, tableware and unique one-off pieces. Späthi’s Beer Garden, a farm shop and vineyard, also offers cold beer and live music throughout the day.

Political tour: Queer Berlin

Berlin has long been a queer capital, with the Rainbow Quarter around Nollendorfplatz as its focal point for over a century. This district has been a center of the queer liberation movement since the late 19th century, even as persecution under Paragraph 175 continued. On this tour, you will explore the living history of the Neighbourhoodand visit the homes and favorite places of personalities such as Audre Lorde, Christopher Isherwood and Rosa von Praunheim.

Cyanotype: Sunday Workshop

Create your own cyanotypes using the power of the sun and chemistry in this Berlin blueprint workshop. You will collect flowers, twigs and stones from the beautiful garden of Wehrmühle Biesenthal to create unique blueprints in blue. This workshop is hosted by the community-oriented art space Wehrmühle Biesenthal and is part of the exhibition program “Aura’s Present Decay”.
