Ohio State football fans will have to go a few extra steps to watch the Buckeyes’ game against Michigan State on Saturday.

The No. 2 Buckeyes (3-0) travel to East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday for their first Big Ten game and road game of the season, but the game will not be televised. Instead, the game will only be available on Peacock, NBC’s streaming platform.

Watch select Big Ten games live with Peacock

That means fans will need a Peacock subscription to watch Ohio State’s game against the Spartans, as select Big Ten games are part of NBC and Peacock’s broadcast deal with the conference. Ohio State debuted on Peacock last year when it visited Purdue, marking the first time since 1997 that the Buckeyes were not on cable or network television.

Here’s everything you need to know about Peacock ahead of Ohio State’s exclusive game on the streaming platform:

What is Peacock?

Peacock is NBC’s exclusive streaming platform that requires a subscription to access a variety of content, including select Big Ten and Notre Dame sporting events.

Peacock launched in July 2020. While it offers a free version of a subscription, it does not offer live sports. Anyone who wants to watch live sports broadcasts – such as the Ohio State-Michigan State game on Saturday – must purchase a subscription for $7.99 per month. Peacock also offers a Premium Plus version of the paid subscription, which costs $13.99 per month.

Peacock began broadcasting college football games in 2023 as NBC has a broadcast deal with the Big Ten and Notre Dame. Peacock was part of the Big Ten’s media rights deal, which included CBS, Fox and NBC, and which gave the NBC streaming platform exclusive broadcast rights to eight regular-season games per year.

The deal runs until the 2029/30 season.
