For the first time ever on The voiceThe Blind Audition phase features a rule adjustment known as the Coach Replay Button, which allows a coach to grab an artist even after Do not turn your chair at first.
And this is how it works:
What is meant by the rule change for Coach Replay? The voice?
As host Carson Daly explained to the coaches in the season 26 premiere, “When the audition is over, you have a second chance to go back and get the artist by pushing your button.” And here’s how it works in practice:
- An artist does his blind audition and a coach doesn’t turn around for him.
- All chairs turn around to meet the artist. The artist tells a little about their story. If a coach who didn’t originally turn around feels attracted to the artist after meeting the artist, they can use their Coach Replay button to try and get them.
- During blinds, coaches only have one play button at a time.
- Unless there are any surprises later in the season, the Coach Replay button appears to only be available during the blind auditions and not in later stages of the competition.

“Be careful with that!” Daly warned the coaches, although there’s probably no need to bombard Snoop Dogg with advice since he already knows the whole repetition formula. “I’m a real coach in real life, so I like to play repetition and see what I did right or wrong,” the rapper said. “So the repetition makes a lot of sense!”

The two-hour premiere of the 26th season of The voice will air on Monday, September 26th at 8/7c on NBC. This will be followed by the series premiere of the new medical drama Brilliant mindsstarring Zachary Quinto.
