These slippers have a solid rubber sole with air cushioning to give your steps extra bounce, as well as a perforated arch that provides ventilation, breathability, and plenty of support. Nearly 25,000 Amazon shoppers love them.

“Stability or support is probably the most important feature of a sneaker or any other shoe that someone wears when they’re on their feet for more than a few minutes,” Richard H. Graves, a podiatrist at Sol Foot & Ankle Centers in Longwood, California, tells Yahoo. And these sneakers offer plenty of support.

The shoes are made of mesh, so they feel light on your feet and are as flexible as socks. The outsole has an air bubble — which board-certified podiatrist Dr. Polina Zaydenberg says is “a great shock absorber” — and the chunky rubber sole provides “a lot of cushioning,” she says. The wide toe box accommodates bunions and hammertoes, and the durable sole prevents slipping.

“These shoes are so great for nurses who have to stand for long periods of time,” wrote one healthcare worker. “Better than my $150 pair of shoes, no joke. … Healthcare workers, these shoes are worth a try. They’re like walking on bouncy bubble cushions.”

Lightweight, wide and roomy, these sneakers offer just the right mix of support and cushioning. “They’re adaptive, meaning they allow the foot and ankle to move in almost any direction as long as the weight-bearing capacity allows it,” explains Rock G. Positano, MD, director of the nonsurgical foot and ankle service at the Joe DiMaggio Heel Pain Center, part of the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

One Amazon reviewer who wears these shoes during long shifts as a nurse said this: “They are soft, very comfortable and look great. People compliment me all the time. My feet never hurt!”

Available in regular and wide widths, these Asics are ultra-cushioned and feature a lugged sole that provides great traction—you can wear them on your next hike. Zaydenberg loves their excellent shock absorption, adding, “The curved bottom helps with propulsion.”

“I suffer from plantar fasciitis and (these sneakers) were recommended to me by my podiatrist; (they) have really helped me a lot,” said one satisfied Amazon reviewer.

If you value style and comfort in equal measure, you’ll love these classics. They come in 12 fun shades, though we’re particularly fond of this pink pair. They’re also versatile: Often seen on the feet of street style mavens and celebs, they look great outside of the gym too—and they don’t just have to be worn with leggings or sweatpants.

Of course, Zaydenberg likes these shoes because of the rounded sole, just like the Asics above, and she also says they can be a good option for people with plantar fasciitis.

These low-tops are made from either beautiful full-grain leather or soft nubuck. The flexible sole uses Ecco’s Fluidform technology to cushion your foot with every step. The matching laces underline the monochrome coolness of this style.

“The toe area looks comfortable and offers support,” says Zaydenberg. “Plus, leather and suede are natural materials, which is good for people with skin conditions because they don’t encourage sweating.”

These sandals feature a flexible cork footbed and a supple suede insole that conforms to your foot. See those adjustable straps? They’re perfect for those with narrow or wide feet who need to customize their fit. Zaydenberg says they’re a great choice for people with metatarsalgia (pain and inflammation in the ball of the foot) and plantar fasciitis.

“I bought these after my podiatrist recommended Birkenstock-style shoes,” said one Amazon shopper. “I only have one pair of regular-footbed Birkies to compare, but they are very similar in terms of the foot-shaped lining and arch support. They fit my wide feet perfectly and breaking them in didn’t hurt nearly as much as real Birkies!”

We call it: Cushionaire Lane Cork Sandals are The Shoe of the summer 2024, so get in on the trend while you still can. These offer a flexible cork sole and soft suede footbed similar to Birkenstocks. With so many colors to choose from, you’ll definitely want to grab a few pairs.

It’s the straps that convinced Zaydenberg. “They adapt to every foot shape, even wide ones,” she explains. “The sole is suitable for people with metatarsalgia and heel spurs.”

These stylish yet sturdy shoes have over 74,500 five-star reviews on Amazon. “Clarks offer a lot of support,” says Zaydenberg. “Most shoes have wider toe boxes, which helps prevent bunions, hammer toes and neuromas.” Clarks are also ideal for people with flat feet, she adds.

Arthritis sufferers are also big fans: “I love them,” reported one Amazon reviewer with “arthritis from my neck to my feet. They are the only shoes I can wear and they don’t give in. You can’t go wrong with these shoes.”

Each pair of Vionic shoes is specially designed by a team of podiatrists to give you the support and comfort you need when you’re on your feet all day. The sandals have a built-in orthotic insert to help with heel pain such as plantar fasciitis, and the flexible EVA midsole absorbs shock and reduces stress on your feet, ankles and knees.

Dr. Hillary Brenner, a podiatrist at NYC Private Medical, is a huge fan of the brand because it’s “the most supportive of all the sandals and offers good arch support.” This cute pair is one of Vionic’s most popular sandals, and it’s easy to see why. Not only do they have a seal of approval from the American Podiatric Medical Association, but they’re also biomechanically designed “to conform to your arch and comfortably support your feet.”

“The density of the sole is suitable for people with arthralgia (joint pain), people with arthritic conditions and people with heel problems,” says Zaydenberg.
