Weather in Southeast Wisconsin: Warm and sunny Thursday

The night is clear and pleasant, with lows falling to over 10 to under 15 degrees.

Thursday will be another summer day with highs around 27 degrees across the area. At the lakeshore, temperatures will be around 27 degrees thanks to a breeze from the southeast, while temperatures inland will warm to above 27 degrees. Skies will be sunny but slightly hazy due to some smoke from wildfires in the upper atmosphere. However, it looks like that smoke is starting to clear.

Then we look south, where Hurricane Francine will make landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday afternoon. The storm will weaken as it moves north up the Mississippi River, but will stall and fizzle out south of St. Louis. That means most of the rain will stay in the south, and we’ll only see increasing upper-level clouds filtering sunshine Friday into Saturday. Highs both days will be around 80 degrees.

Some of the moisture from the remnants of Francine could bring light rains Sunday into Monday. The long-term forecast continues to predict above-average temperatures into the second half of September.
