Walmart Marketplace adds categories and improves fulfillment offerings

Walmart Marketplace will add three popular categories into its assortment and expand fulfillment offerings for sellers, including a multichannel solutions program that leverages Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) to fulfill orders from any e-commerce site through Walmart’s supply chain when it launches on September 10. In addition, the new Walmart Cross Border full-container-load import service will be able to handle the transportation of inbound goods from Asian ports of origin directly to WFS facilities in the U.S.

The new categories unveiled at the Let’s Grow! 2024 Walmart Marketplace Seller Summit, which concludes today in San Francisco, are:

  • Premium Beauty with more than 20 new brands for skincare, haircare and hair care products, supported by customized storefronts and editorial content;
  • Resold at Walmart, Offer 5 million used items from more than 1,700 performance-driven sellers, including luxury fashion, electronics, collectibles and sporting goods. The category builds on the success of the Walmart Restored collection, which consists of refurbished electronics and small appliances.
  • Collectibles, available in the Collector Shop, where Sellers can now enable pre-orders to increase customer anticipation of new products, including new releases exclusive to Walmart.

At the event, Walmart also unveiled Walmart LocalFinds, which aims to bridge the gap between online and offline shopping through direct pickup and delivery from sellers’ stores. Walmart LocalFinds will launch in Atlanta and Dallas this fall and will pair with Walmart’s last-mile delivery network to enable faster deliveries and connect shoppers with local businesses through Walmart’s digital channels. 1-800-Flowers.com is the first nationwide dealer to participate.

In addition, Walmart has enhanced its solutions and offers sellers special offers for the 2024 holiday season, including:

  • A newly designed Global Seller Center and a new app that provides easier onboarding for eligible sellers in all markets and enables them to expand globally by selling in the US, Mexico, Chile and Canada;
  • Waiver of Storage fees in high season for sellers who send their inventory to WFS fulfillment centers by September 30, 2024;
  • An extension of the Walmart Marketplace Capital Cash Advance Program, which provides up to 5 million US dollars for qualified sellers; and
  • A new Offers Dashboard This simplifies the process for sellers looking to enter items into Walmart deal events, while providing more data and insights that sellers can use to improve the quality of their listings.
