Israeli retailer Shufersal increases profits by 132% in the second quarter, sales rise
Israel’s largest supermarket chain Shufersal reported a more than doubling of quarterly profit, thanks to higher sales and cost-cutting measures. In its first results following a change in ownership this year, Shufersal posted a second-quarter net profit of NIS 169 million ($46 million), up 132 percent from a year earlier. Sales rose 7.9 percent to NIS 4 billion in the April-June period, while store sales rose 8.7 percent.
