UF cancels classes Wednesday and Thursday due to Hurricane Milton

The UF campus will be closed this Wednesday, Oct. 9, and Thursday, Oct. 10, due to Hurricane Milton, the university announced in a news release. All academic and student activities are suspended, including online courses and exams.

This impacts the fall 2024 student government elections, currently scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. The SG returning officer will announce changes to the election schedule.

At this time, UF has not announced plans to evacuate campus residents and is recommending those living in residence halls shelter in place. Those living off-campus should follow local and state guidelines to prepare for a tropical storm or hurricane, UF said in a news release.

Florida Fresh Dining announced that Gator Corner and The Eatery at Broward Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to its website. Graham and Rawlings Markets are also open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Reitz Union Market, Starbucks and Panda Express are open Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m

According to the release, UF Health hospitals and clinical practices are continuing normal operations. More information about UF Health closures can be found here.
