Two North Platte High School alumni return home from Marine boot camp

NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska (KNOP) – Several families and friends gathered at North Platte Lee Bird Regional Airport on Monday to await the arrival of Emiliano Morin.

Morin is one of two North Platte High School 2024 graduates who set out in May. They left North Platte and traveled thousands of miles to attend Marine boot camp. Ian Caudy arrived in North Platte on Sunday.

After hard work and dedication, the two are now Marines and are back home for a while before flying back to California for their next deployment.

According to Morin, the two had to complete several physically demanding tasks, sometimes with only two hours of sleep.

“It felt like everything I had done for the previous two and a half months was really worth it,” Morin said. “Waking up every morning and getting yelled at felt like it was all worth it at the end. All the times we had to jump on the floor, the mornings of being yelled at, being rushed. I felt like it was all worth it afterwards.”

After completing these tasks, the two were able to demonstrate similar successes.

“Almost the same as him, the accomplishment of the two and a half months of hard work we put in beforehand,” Caudy said. “It was definitely worth it. You still get yelled at the next morning, but you’re a Marine when you get yelled at, so I feel a little better about it.”

Back in California, Morin and Caudy will work as military security guards and complete 14 weeks of infantry battalion training.
