HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities responded to the scene of a transformer fire at a gas plant in southeast Harris County on Sunday.

According to the La Porte Emergency Management Agency, a fire is burning at the Air Liquide plant in the 11700 block of Bay Area Boulevard.
According to the Harris County 8th Constable’s Office, the road is closed from Fairmont Parkway to Choate Road.
As of 6:40 p.m., the La Porte Office of Emergency Management reported that the fire was largely extinguished and emergency crews were battling remaining hot spots at the facility. Emergency crews will remain on scene until the incident is fully contained.
Update 6:40 p.m.: The fire has been largely extinguished. Rescue workers are currently battling the fire in the facility. Rescue workers will be present in the area until the incident is over.
Due to power outages, the community may experience increased operating costs for additional facilities.

Due to the power outages, residents in the area may experience increased flaring at other facilities.
To ensure there are no impacts, air monitoring is being carried out.
