Tom Brady’s first interaction with Mike Pereira at the NFL commentary booth was so embarrassing

We should have known that Tom Brady would probably be a lot more nervous than we thought when he makes his debut as an NFL commentator during Sunday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns. Yes, even all-time NFL legends need patience to get comfortable with a new big job.

And we should have seen it coming from a long way away, after an awkward first interaction in the locker room with Fox rules analyst Mike Pereira.

As Fox’s best commentary team of Kevin Burkhardt, Brady and Pereira set the table for their duel, Brady couldn’t have been more awkward as he greeted Pereira, first giving him a random thumbs up as Pereira glanced in his and Burkhardt’s direction.

Then Brady reached out for a punch without Pereira even looking, leaving him hanging in the air for an uncomfortably long time.

It really was a master class in anxiety:

Oh man, everything about this clip embarrasses me.

This trio will likely get a lot better as the season progresses, but it’s abundantly clear that they need to work on their internal chemistry a lot more than we saw in Week 1.
