ForbesToday’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues and Solutions for Monday October 7th

It’s not quite Tuesday yet, but Tuesday’s NYT Mini Crossword is live, and while it’s not quite as hard as the last few days, it still has some tricky tricks up its sleeve. The Mini is, as the description suggests, a much smaller, more bite-sized crossword than the actual New York Times Crossword, and that makes it a fun addition to other smaller games like Wordle, Strands and Spelling Bee.

Let’s solve today’s problem, shall we?

Spoilers ahead, of course. Skip ahead to see the picture of today’s solved puzzle.

ABOVE

1 – ___ apple – ADAMS

6 – Apple___ – SAUCE

7 – Many films at Sundance – INDIE

8 – Plants with leaf fronds – FERN

9 – Droop – SAG

DOWN

1 – “You wish!” – ASIF

2 – “Great” big dogs – DANES

3 – ___ McDonald, Broadway actress with Tony, Emmy and Grammy awards – AUDRA

4 – Host an open mic, informal – MCING

5 – Understands – SEE

I skipped the whole ACROSS today and went with the first word I was completely sure about, 2-DOWN (DANES), and then quickly added in 8-Across (FERNS) and 9-Across (SAG). At this point I was confident enough to type INDIE for 7-Across and ADAMS for 1-ACROSS, which solved most of the puzzle for me. The thing I really didn’t know was 3-DOWN, but when I finished 6-ACROSS with SAUCE, AUDRA filled itself. It took me 1 minute and 28 seconds to complete today’s mini. How have you been? let me know TwitterInstagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I also write instructions for it. You can find these and all of my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
