TJ Watt joined the historic club with 100 career sacks

TJWatt, a former college football player, was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2017 NFL Draft. He was a four-time finalist for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, winning in 2021. Watt tied Michael Strahan’s 22.5 sack record for most sacks in a single season. He is the younger brother of three-time Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt.

TJ Watt reached the 100-sack plateau in Sunday Night’s game against Dallas Cowboys. Watt and Nick Herbig came at Prescott and gave him a half-sack to get him to 100. Watt lost his helmet, forcing Prescott to lose the ball, and Herbig recovered the fumble, leading to a game-winning turnover. Watt, a six-time Pro Bowler and 2021 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, is the second fastest player in NFL history to reach 100 sacks in a career, surpassing Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware and Hall of Famer Reggie White. Watt has 99.5 career sacks.
JJ Watt, who is also a member of the 100 sack club, congratulated his brother Watt on social media after a milestone sack of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. “Welcome to the 100 Sack Club…we’ve been waiting. The new guy buys everyone else a car. “I don’t make the rules, it’s just the way it is,” JJ joked on Twitter while congratulating his younger brother.
The 29-year-old is on a path to the Hall of Fame as he dominated every week this year and recorded sacks in every game. He has recorded sacks in five straight games since last season’s finale. TJ Watt and his retired brother JJ Watt are now the only NFL siblings with 100 sacks each. Watt’s 22.5 sacks in 2021 are the most in a single year and make him the sack champion in a season for the third time. JJ finished his career with 114.5 sacks, ranking 24th all-time. More sack milestones are likely to be reached after Sunday.
