Tim Walz trolls JD Vance by buying donuts like a normal person

After Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance made headlines last week for his extraordinary clumsiness in a Georgia doughnut shop, Democrat Tim Walz had to make fun of him at a diner in Pennsylvania.

While purchasing candy such as whoopie pies and doughnuts at Cherry Hill Orchards in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Walz made a joke in a speech to voters.

“Look at me, I have no problem picking out donuts.”

Walz and his daughter Hope spoke with the manager about his business, which has been in the area for over 50 years, and brought whoopie pies and apple cider doughnuts for volunteers. Comparing Walz’s pit stop to Vance’s gives a representative picture of the candidates.

“I’m JD Vance and I’m running for vice president,” the Republican candidate told an employee last week as he entered Holt’s Sweet Shop in Valdosta, Georgia.

“OK,” she replied. Vance then ordered “a lot” of glazed doughnuts, “some sprinkles,” cinnamon rolls, and “whatever makes sense” before being asked to stop filming.

While the ability to order dessert is certainly not the most important political skill, being able to talk to others like a human being certainly can’t hurt.
