Three people use gas cutters to break into an ATM and steal 1.5 million rupees

According to police, the incident was reported near Vasuli Phata in Mahalunge MIDC. The ATM centre was operated by a private financial company.

Unknown persons broke into an ATM with a gas cutter and stole 15.81 lakh in Pimpri-Chinchwad area on Friday. The incident was reported to Mahalunge MIDC police, who lodged a complaint and registered a case on Saturday.

According to police, the incident was reported near Vasuli Phata in Mahalunge MIDC. The ATM centre was operated by a private financial company.

The perpetrators cut open the ATM with a gas cutter and gained access to the cash inside. When the gas cutter was used, part of the ATM burned.

Nitin Gitte, SPI, Mahalunge MIDC police station, said, “We have collected CCTV footage from the nearby area which shows that three men were involved in this theft. After the theft, the accused drove a car towards the Pune-Mumbai highway.”

This ATM center has neither security guard nor security alarm. Mahalunge MIDC police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that may help in the investigation.

A case under BNS sections 331(4), 305 and 324(5) was registered at Mahalunge MIDC police station.
