Three people arrested after drugs and weapons found in home with children inside

TRUMANN, Arkansas (KAIT) – Police have arrested three people after several drugs and weapons were found in a home where two young children were present.

According to a Trumann Police incident report, Officers Andrew David Davison and Jarred Carter were dispatched to the 500 block of West Speedway Street on Sunday, August 11, to speak with two subjects: 33-year-old James Obrien and 32-year-old Hailey Blake, both of Trumann.

Officers were told that 39-year-old Nicholas McCullar and 37-year-old Jerri McCullar, both of Trumann, were hiding in a house.

The report said McCullar had an Arkansas Parole Board warrant and an FTA warrant for his arrest. McCullar had felony warrants for his arrest in both Sharp and Craighead counties.

During a conversation in the backyard of the house, Obrien told Davison and Carter that the suspects they were looking for were not there. They had left “just before” his arrival. He gave officers permission to search the house for the suspects.

The report states that when officers entered the home, the McCullars became aware of the officers. Although they attempted to run from the home, both Nicholas and Jerri were quickly apprehended by police.

In addition to the warrants, the report said Nicholas was on probation and Jerri was under supervision. The duo had been staying at Obrien’s house for a few days.

According to police, Obrien went inside to check on his two young children. His children’s mother, Blake, left the house.

Carter told Davison that a no-contact order had been issued, which is why Blake left the house when officers entered.

When officers began searching the home, they tried to locate Blake but were unable to find her.

During the search, Carter and Davison found a glass pipe in the living room with a significant amount of suspected meth in it.

According to the report, officers also found two hunting rifles and a firearm that appeared to be a rifle converted into a pistol, as well as other drugs and paraphernalia.

The Arkansas Department of Social Services was called to the scene because a 10-month-old and a 1-year-old child were still in the home. The department took custody of the children after the report said “no suitable homes could be found for them.”

Obrien and the McCullars were taken to the Trumann police station and put in jail. Officers still couldn’t find Blake.

According to the report, the McCullars were both charged with escape, possession of meth (less than two grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Obrien was charged with possession of meth (less than two grams), possession of drug paraphernalia, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, obstruction of justice and two counts of endangering the welfare of minors.

The suspects’ court dates have not been announced.
