Three Days Grace reunites with original singer Adam Gontier and Matt Walst to stick around

Canadian nu-metal/post-grunge band Three Days Grace surprised fans this morning when they announced the return of their original vocalist Adam Gontier. But the twist of this reunion is this: Gontier’s replacement, Matt Walst, isn’t leaving the band. No word on how this agreement will work. I wish I had the freedom to do something like that in my relationships. “Hey, I’m getting back together with my ex, but I also want to keep you with me.” That probably wouldn’t go over well.

Here’s what the band had to say on Instagram:

“After performing together in Nashville this time last year and spending time in the studio since then, we are pleased to announce the official return of Adam Gontier as vocalist for Three Days Grace, with Matt Walst continuing as lead vocalist.

More details on new music and tour plans coming soon… don’t miss out on what’s in store! Sign up for updates at ThreeDaysGrace.com or link in bio ????

NOTE FROM ADAM:
I feel like it went smoothly, better than we expected. It’s like we were back in the same room together and picked up where we left off. We’ve been friends for so long that it’s natural to get back in the room together.

NOTE FROM MATT:
It was so much fun and inspiring to make this record. Combining over 20 years of Three Days Grace and doing something no band has ever done. I’m excited for the fans to hear it!”

Gontier was the band’s vocalist on their first four albums, from their self-titled album onwards Transit of Venuswhile Walst was her vocalist on her 2015 album Human through their 2022 album Explosions. Fans can have their cake and eat it too, as the next record is expected to feature both singers.
