This 10,000-car pick-and-pull race is the best way to see real classics

Here’s a hot shot for you: Car shows are somehow boring. The the same few proven classicsall carefully maintained and just driven to and from shows – it’s all so boring. Fortunately, there’s a better way to see real, authentic classics: visit a giant pick-and-pull.

YouTuber Remote Trooper took a tour of Desert Valley Auto Parts outside of Phoenix Earlier this year, he posted a video of the sights to be seen at this massive junkyard. Decades of American culture stand in orderly rows, existing as real cars that served a purpose of driving people around – not as exhibits.

Ten thousand unrestored vintage cars – this place is incredible!

It is so refreshing to see such beautiful old cars that are not carefully cleaned and preserved. There is something honest about them, they are machines built for a purpose and they have served it faithfully – they must Do something to do instead of living locked up. They are real cars, not valuables to be sold for profit.

Like a dog that has been weaned from chasing a Frisbee, a car that has been immaculately cleaned and clayed and runs less than 3,000 rpm is not living the life it deserves. It never gets to stretch its legs and never gets to play. The 10,000 Classics at Desert Valley Auto Parts did Get it, they were able to live the way they were intended, and that’s a better sight than any car show.
