General information:

• your full name,
• Address (city, state, zip code),
• telephone number,
• And an alternative phone number (if available)

Obituary specification:

• name of the deceased,
• obituary text,
• A photo in a JPEG or PDF file is preferable. TIF and other files are accepted. We will contact you if there are any problems with the photo.
• Deadlines for placing ads
• There is a discount for multi-day runs, but this must be scheduled on the first run date to be used.
• If a photo is used, it must be used on both days for the discount to apply. Contact us for further information.

Guidelines:

Confirmation of death:

To publish obituaries, the name and telephone number of the funeral home/cremation association are required. To confirm the death, we must contact the funeral home/cremation company that is responsible for the organization during business hours. If the deceased’s body was donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program or a similar program, the deceased’s phone number is required for verification.

Please allow sufficient time for contact, especially during the limited weekend opening hours.

A death certificate is also acceptable for this purpose, but only one of these two options is required.

Guestbook and external websites:

We are not permitted to reference other media sources with a guestbook or obituary posted elsewhere when publishing an obituary in print and online. We may set up a funeral home website or family email for contact instead. Contact us if you have any questions about this topic.

Obituary process:

Once your submission is complete, we will send you a proof by fax or email prior to publication in the newspaper. This proof includes the price and the days on which the notice should appear.

Please check the proof carefully. We must be notified of any errors or changes before the notice appears in the Pioneer Press, based on daily deadlines.

Once published, we assume no responsibility for any errors that may occur after final correction.

On-line:

All obituaries appear on TwinCities.com with permanent online guestbook presence. If you want to remove the online presence, you can contact us to remove the guestbook online. Changes to an online obituary can be made via the obituary notice. Call us if you have any further questions.

Payment process:

All obituaries require prepayment prior to publication within the deadline specified in our timeline below. Please call 651-228-5263 with your payment information after you have received the proof and approved its contents.

Credit card: Due to PCI (Payment Card Industry) regulations, payments are only accepted by telephone

EFT: Please check by phone. Please provide your bank sort code and account number.

Checkout: Accepted by us FRONT COUNTS Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m

Prices:

• The minimum fee is $162 for the first 10 lines.
• Each line after the first 10 costs $12.20.
• If the ad is less than 10 lines, the minimum price of $162 will be charged.
• For a second run, the lines cost $8.20 per line, starting with the first line.
• Example: If the first printing date is 20 lines, the cost is $164.
• Each photo published costs $125 per day.
• Example: For 2 photos in the newspaper on 2 days, 4 photo fees would be charged at $500.

MEMORIAM REQUEST (NOT OBITUARY).

Unlike an obituary, memoriam submissions are remembrances of a loved one who has passed away. The prices for a memoriam differ from those for obituaries.
