The Rivers, Trails and Ales Festival takes place from August 8th to 11th.

MARIETTA, OH (WTAP) – The festival takes place throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley and many people come from all over to participate in the Rivers, Trails and Ales Festival during the four-day event.

Activities that encompass Washington and Wood County include mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, and other types of walking.

Debbie Lazorik, an official with the River Mountain Bike Association, said everyone, including volunteers, is proud that this festival can take place.

“It’s exciting not only for the people who participate, but also for the volunteers,” Lazorik said. “They’re the ones who work hard all year to plan this festival and then see the people come. We have all of this for families and kids to have fun.

Vince Nedeff, mountain bike director for the Rivers, Trails and Ales Festival, said it was a great time for people to try out the different activities.

“It’s a great time,” Vince said. “Everyone is having fun. There’s live music. People are riding bikes, doing active things and everyone is just smiling. That’s the best part for me.”

Sean Foley, a festival-goer from Athens, Ohio, said it was simply exciting to see the beauty of southeast Ohio.

“Just great people, and of course the scenery and the recreational opportunities and our weather this year are just right for us,” said Foley. “Just the nature and the scenery and of course all the nice people in Ohio.”
