4 tropical disturbances are monitored in the Atlantic

Tropical activity over the Atlantic has increased and meteorologists are currently monitoring four areas of unsettled weather that could develop further.

The National Hurricane Center said it is monitoring three areas of severe weather in the Atlantic Ocean, while another area is circling over the Caribbean and is on a path that could ultimately bring the storm over Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and then the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.

Cities along the Interstate 10 corridor to the south, such as New Orleans, remain at risk of heavy rainfall and flash flooding as a stalled frontal front unleashes torrential rains.

Flooding was reported from Florida to Texas on Wednesday, with flood warnings in place for more than 5 million people.

That threat continues Thursday, as New Orleans remains at a Level 3 of 4 flood risk.

A bolide, according to NASA‘S Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) is an astronomical term used for “exceptionally bright meteors that are spectacular enough to be seen over a very wide area.”
