The Jets lead the Broncos 6-0 after a rain-soaked first half in Jersey

The Broncos and Jets spent the first half of Sunday’s game showing that producing offensive fireworks in the rain can be difficult.

It took almost an entire quarter for both teams to score a first down on a wet track at MetLife Stadium, and the first points came on a field goal after the Jets failed to score on three plays from the 1-yard line. They initially wanted to try it in the fourth period, but settled for a field goal after one of their seven penalties.

The Jets had their best drive of the half on their last possession before halftime. Aaron Rodgers found Allen Lazard twice for 38 yards and then found Mike Williams for 21 yards. Williams did a great job dragging his toes before going out of bounds, but a sack by John Franklin-Myers stopped their momentum and Greg Zuerlein was picked off for his second field goal of the day.

That kick made it 6-0 and the Broncos will get the ball out of the break. They’ll have to find a way to make Bo Nix comfortable, as the rookie’s seven completions lost the team seven yards. They have 46 total yards and obviously that has to change for them to win a second road game in a row. Running back Tyler Badie will not be part of the plans. He is out due to a back injury that resulted in him having to be carted off the field.

The Jets were able to put up 101 yards on the final drive, and they’ll be hoping the progress on that possession continues into the second half.
