The Giants score a late TD on a blocked FG and defeat the Seahawks 29-20

Tracy had totaled 29 yards on 12 carries in the first four games of the season.

“I have to give a shout out to our O-line and DJ (quarterback Daniel Jones),” Tracy said. “I told the O-line, keep going, keep going, because at a certain point their D-line is going to get tired. I just feel like today we kept going, kept going and in the end…” Day O-Line went out and did a better job than their D-Line.

Jones also had a great game, completing 23 of 34 passes for 257 yards as well as touchdown throws of seven yards to Wan’Dale Robinson and 30 yards to Slayton. It was the third game this season in which he threw two touchdowns without an interception and had a passer rating of at least 100.0 (season-high 109.6).

The defense sacked Seattle quarterback Geno Smith seven times, including a career-high 3.0 by Dexter Lawrence and 2.0 by DJ Davidson, the first complete sacks of his career. Brian Burns had a big fourth-down sack on Smith early in the fourth quarter.

Greg Joseph kicked three field goals for the Giants.

For the second time in three games, the Giants caused misfortune early in the game. In Cleveland, Eric Gray botched the first kickoff and the Browns threw a touchdown pass on their first offensive play. But the Giants rallied and won 20-15.

Sunday, the 16thTh On the play of their first possession, it was discovered that Gray had lost the ball just short of the goal line on fourth down. Rayshawn Jenkins caught the ball and ran 102 yards for a touchdown, the longest fumble recovery ever against the Giants. The Seahawks also scored on two field goals by Myers and Smith’s 5-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 2:09 left, bringing Seattle within 23-20.

After a Giants punt, the Seahawks gained possession at their own 34-yard line. Smith immediately gained 32 yards on a run down the right side. Four plays later, Myers was called in to try to tie the game. But the Giants had a plan for such a scenario.

“I think it was Tuesday, Ghobi (special teams coordinator Michael Ghobrial) brought this game to my attention,” coach Brian Daboll said. “He talked about who he thought would be a good candidate to make the jump. Isaiah came to mind. He did it perfectly.”

What did they see that made them think the play would work?

“You placed a lot of trust in your assistants,” Daboll said. “Ghobi showed me a few clips. And we kept it. I kept asking about it throughout the game. I thought we probably had a chance and Ghobi said, ‘I just want to set it up, another one, another one.’ There’s a risk-reward ratio because if you get a penalty, it’s the first loss for the offense . I thought Ghobi prepared the onslaught well. Then Isaiah is over there before the game starts getting out and what he’s doing, so he was ready to go.

Previously, Simmons thought the piece wouldn’t be used.

“I was hoping we would do it sooner, but then we kept getting up and then he (Ghobrial) said, ‘It’s out’ and I said, ‘Damn.'” But then they came back and then he said, “It’s time, next time we’ll do it.” I say, “Let’s go.”

“My college roommate, K’Von Wallace, plays for the Seahawks. He saw me there. He knows I’m not on the (block team). He said (after the game): ‘When I saw you inside, he thinks he’s about to jump.’ I guess only he noticed. Nobody else noticed.

This was a stroke of luck for Simmons and the Giants.

“I just knew it was my turn to make a play. So do it. We’d be sitting here with different feelings if that play wasn’t made, you know. At the end of the day it was easy.” Your number gets called and you make the plays you’re supposed to make.

If he hadn’t made it, the Giants might have had a long, unhappy flight home.

“At the end, Isaiah and his special teams obviously did a great job,” Jones said. “The defense played great all day against a really good offense. Feels good. I think like every game there are some things we want to do better and clean up, but we enjoyed those.”

“He’s a freak athlete, it takes a freak athlete,” Burns said. “He won the game. He brought us home, man.”
