The Giants’ recent loss to the Cowboys stemmed from Malik Nabers’ concussion scare

Better, yes.

Closer, yes.

But not there yet.

The Giants ventured into a primetime game on Thursday evening against the team that beats them regularly and usually decisively.

That wasn’t it.

The Giants kept their fans in their seats from start to finish at MetLife Stadium, but they couldn’t finish what they started with a 20-15 loss that dropped them to 1-3 on the season.

There was no way the Giants were going to pull off an upset without scoring a touchdown, and that was their downfall.

Dak Prescott threw first-half touchdown passes to Rico Dowdle and CeeDee Lamb and the Giants couldn’t find their way into the Dallas end zone.

They were stopped at the 3-yard line in the third quarter and had a first down at the Dallas 20-yard line early in the fourth quarter. The final result was Greg Joseph’s fifth field goal, which cut the deficit to 17-15 with 11:11 left.

Brandon Aubrey’s second field goal made the score 20-15 with 6:54 left.

The Giants needed a touchdown.

They failed – again – when Jones was flushed out of the pocket on fourth down from his own 45-yard line and rolled right and fired a pass down the left sideline to Malik Nabers.

The rookie tried to make a diving catch while staying infield against cornerback Trevon Diggs, but couldn’t hold on to the ball as he plunged downfield and fell on the football with 3:21 left.

Nabers, who had 12 catches for 115 yards, was shaken by the play and the Giants’ last gasp came and went.

He was diagnosed with a concussion.
