The Celtic defender’s big chance on Saturday evening

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has named his starting XI for tonight’s game against St Johnstone, making seven changes from last week’s win over Falkirk in the League Cup.

One of the few players to keep his place in the team is center back Auston Trusty.

The American started against Bairns on Sunday and put in an acceptable performance.

Back then, Trusty played alongside Stephen Welsh in the center of defense, but tonight he will partner Liam Scales.

In the absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Trusty is likely to play as a right center back in the defensive line.

Trusty was signed from Sheffield United for £6m on transfer deadline day and has a great chance to show tonight that he is worth his high price tag. Brendan Rodgers has trusted him to take the place of Celtic’s best centre-back in the team, which says a lot.

If Trusty plays well tonight and Carter-Vickers’ big toe isn’t any better by Tuesday, he could well start away at Borussia Dortmund.

However, the 26-year-old will be fully focused on today’s game and on having a positive influence on the game.

Three points are crucial for Brendan Rodgers’ men in Perth tonight as they look to maintain their perfect start to the new season.

Kick-off tonight is at the rather unusual time of 5:45 p.m. The action is live on Premier Sports.
