Obi Ndefo, the actor known for his roles in Dawson’s Creek: The mysterious setting And Stargate SG-1 has died. He was 51.
The actor’s sister, Nkem Ndefo, announced her brother’s death on Facebook on Saturday evening with an old photo of herself and Obi. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
“I am heartbroken by the loss of my younger brother and I know he has finally found peace,” Nkem wrote in the post.
Ndefo’s death came five years after he lost both legs in a hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles. Since then, he has focused on his health and recovery and remained active as a yoga teacher over the years.
“It’s just so terrible what happened to me – why should I make it worse by feeling bad about it?” he told Los Angeles Times his attitude after the accident.

After graduating from Yale University’s drama school, Obi began appearing in various television roles in episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Wayans brothers., The Jamie Foxx Show And Immediately left.
The actor’s most memorable performance was as Bodie Wells, the brother-in-law of Katie Holmes’ Joey Potter in Dawson’s Creek: The mysterious settinga role he played from 1998 to 2002. His co-star Mary-Margaret Humes shared a tribute on Instagram following Obi’s death.

“These words are not easy for me to say,” she captioned the post. “I find it hard to comprehend that you have left us, my dear friend. You were and will always be a shining light. What an example of pure, unfiltered love and perseverance you have been as you have faced life’s challenges of late. I will cherish all of our messages of love and support for one another over the past few years. Rest in peace, sweet warrior.”
