It’s been a tough year for brick-and-mortar retailers across the United States; another retail store in Texarkana is closing.
Store closure
The Burkes’s Outlet retail chain in the Texarkana Pavilion shopping center is closing and everything has to go. As you can see, a lot of merchandise is already gone.
The store specializes in clothing, shoes, bedding, sportswear, seasonal items and home accessories. Store employees received the bad news last week and the store will be closing permanently sometime in September or until everything is sold out.
There have been no discounts on goods yet, but store employees say they should start reducing prices at the end of August.
I tried to find information on whether this is happening nationwide, but could not find anything about it or the Texarkana store closing.
Burke’s is owned by Beall’s and if you have shopped there you probably noticed that they use Beall’s bags because as I was told towards the end of last year they were going to switch to Beall’s at some point. Apparently the Texarkana store is falling on hard times and that is unfortunate, it may very well have been a slow sales store, that is just my guess.
According to sources, they are building a new store in El Dorado, Arkansas and one in Tyler, Texas. Burke’s is a Florida-based company that is well-known nationwide with over 400 stores. The Texarkana store opened in April 2017. According to their Facebook page, the stores will be rebranded and renamed Beall’s Outlet.
