Tesco strips shelves from hundreds of stores after collaborating with major brand

Tesco is making big changes across hundreds of stores after expanding its partnership with toy retailer The Entertainer. The retailer announced earlier this year that it would roll out its Toy Zones across all major stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

This was followed by a successful one-year test of the “Entertainer” shelves in 35 stores, which received a positive response from customers.

The toy company’s products are now available in more and more supermarkets, so that customers can not only benefit from a larger range of toys, but can also collect Clubcard points when shopping and benefit from Clubcard promotions.

The Entertainer’s popular brands include Barbie, Nerf, LOL and Paw Patrol, as well as its exclusive product ranges, the value-for-money brand Addo and Early Learning Centre – the award-winning specialist in toys for young children.

Once the launch is complete, Tesco’s own-brand toy departments will close and only The Entertainer products will be sold.

Commenting on the announcement, Jan Marchant, Managing Director of Home and Clothing at Tesco, said: “We are delighted to be launching The Entertainer in Tesco stores across the UK and Ireland and to introduce the brand to our customers in Central Europe. Our initial trial was very popular with customers and we look forward to introducing even more customers to The Entertainer’s great range of toys – making it easier for customers to choose a gift for their little ones in store.”

Andrew Murphy, Group CEO of The Entertainer, added: “Following a successful trial, we are delighted to bring The Entertainer’s fantastic range and market-leading value to even more communities across the country – in partnership with the UK’s most respected retailer.”

Entertainer concessions are already open in a number of stores including Bolton Little Lever, Blackley Manchester and Manchester Express.

A list of stores where The Entertainer will open concessions has yet to be confirmed, but Tesco has confirmed that 759 major stores in the UK and 94 major stores in the Republic of Ireland will be affected.
