Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens was apparently one of Shannon Sharpe’s many social media followers who saw a wild, sexually explicit video on the ESPN star’s Instagram.
Owens couldn’t resist poking fun at the situation on X by responding to a user who posted clips from the Instagram Live in which a woman could clearly be seen moaning.
“I guarantee @espn HR is RIGHT NOW BUSY!!! Let’s see what they come up with to get this sorted,” Owens wrote on social media. “I know @NightcapShow_ is about to be awesome.”
The second part of the post is a reference to the show that Sharpe co-hosts with Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.
Johnson also seemed to respond to the situation with a Denzel Washington GIF.
Sharpe’s face does not appear at any point in the video, and although it was removed from the ESPNer’s Instagram, snippets circulated on social media.
At one point in the video, it seemed as if his name was used by the unknown voice.
Sharpe initially attributed this to a hacker attack on his account in a later deleted post on X.
“Beware, my Instagram @shannonsharpe84 was hacked this morning, my team and I are working hard to figure this out – UNC,” Sharpe wrote in the post, which was eventually deleted.
Sharpe made a name for himself on the football field, winning three Super Bowls and appearing in the Pro Bowl eight times during his 14-year NFL career.
Sharpe was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011 after recording 10,060 receiving yards and 62 touchdowns in his career.
After his playing days, Sharpe built a second career in sports media, where he feuded with Skip Bayless on FS1’s “Undisputed.” He is now a contributor to World Wide Leader in Sports, where his appearances include “First Take” with Stephen A. Smith.
