Taylor Swift used Instagram to support Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Former President Donald Trump responded in the Spin Room.
Now they are enemies.
President Donald Trump sharply criticized Taylor Swift after the pop superstar endorsed Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a phone interview with Fox News on Wednesday morning, Trump said he was not a fan of the “Tortured Poets Department” singer. Instead, he said he was a bigger fan of Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“If you want to know the truth, I actually like Ms. Mahomes a lot better,” Trump said. “She’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan.”
Brittany Mahomes recently liked a post by Trump on Instagram in which he shared the GOP platform – before unliking it after receiving backlash for doing so. However, she seemed to reinforce her opinion and criticize the haters. She also liked several comments on her Instagram that were pro-Trump.
Swift, who is currently dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and Mahomes are friends and were spotted hanging out together over the weekend.
Swift threw her coveted support behind Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, shortly after the debate ended Tuesday night.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to represent them,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post. “I think she is a calm, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country when we are led by calm, not chaos.”
In 2020, Swift supported Democratic candidates Biden and Harris.
Trump said he believed Swift’s support for Harris would hurt her sales. Swift broke records with the highest-grossing tour during her global “Era Tour.”
“She’s a very liberal person,” Trump said of Swift. “She always seems to support a Democrat and will probably pay a price for that … in the marketplace.”
Trump praised Mahomes for her support of his campaign.
“I think Brittany is great,” Trump said. “She’s a huge MAGA fan. I like her, much more than Taylor Swift… And I think – I think she’s great. Not Taylor Swift,” Trump said.
