Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Jalen McMillan injured, questionable Sunday

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are already outnumbered going into Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. And on Friday things got even more difficult.

The Buccaneers practiced at AdventHealth Training Center on Friday after Hurricane Helene passed near Tampa Bay, and there were some positive signs from practice. It looks like defensive tackle Vita Vea and offensive tackle Luke Goedeke will play against the Eagles, and the Buccaneers will need them against a strong Philadelphia Eagles team.

Safety Antoine Winfield Jr. and defensive tackle Calijah Kancey do not appear to be ready to play this Sunday, but could be preparing for a return on Thursday when the Bucs play a crucial divisional game on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. Running back Bucky Irving, tight end Ko Kieft, defensive tackle Greg Gaines and wideout Kam Johnson all did not practice or were limited, but all practiced Friday, which is a good sign that the Bucs could be mostly healthy Sunday.

However, there is bad news. Wide receiver Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay’s WR3, suffered a hamstring strain during practice and is now questionable to play against the Eagles, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

McMillan was a star in the offseason and preseason, but other than a touchdown in the first week of the season, he wasn’t particularly productive. He will be replaced by either Kameron Johnson or Trey Palmer, who suffered an ankle injury – so it would make sense that a healthy Palmer would fill that role against the Eagles.

That might not be a bad thing. The last time the two teams played in the playoffs, Palmer caught a 56-yard touchdown for a score in a beatdown to advance to the divisional round:

The Bucs and Eagles will face off at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m.
