MCBEE, SC (WBTV) – Authorities have found the man they believe shot a police officer during a traffic stop in Chesterfield County late Thursday night.
The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. along 11th Street in McBee, right next to McBee High School.
Officials with the South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement (SLED) and the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the officer shot was from the McBee Police Department.
The officer is being treated in hospital. The extent of his injuries is unclear.
SLED identified the suspect as 27-year-old Alston Modlin. It is unclear where he was found, but officials previously said he was spotted in a white Toyota Tacoma in Florence, SC around 6 a.m.
Authorities have not yet announced what charges Modlin might face.
Hours after the shooting, investigators were still on scene on 11th Street Friday morning.

A spokesman for the Chesterfield County School District said the shooting did not occur at the school.
