Studio Lettar Designs Seoul Eyewear Store

The characteristics of glasses were the inspiration for the details of the Zeus eyewear store, designed by Studio Lettar.

The store in Seoul’s Jung district is a new location for the 20-year-old brand. The architects have created an elegant yet industrial-looking interior with a reduced material palette.

“Eyewear is one of the most delicate and functional items we wear, with structural and mechanical properties,” they said. “It serves a functional role in correcting vision through countless small components and technologies, but eyewear is also a sophisticated piece and a fashion item in its own right.”

This description and definition formed the basis for the design concept. Inside, the product has plenty of room to breathe and is displayed either on wall shelves or on a tiered table that winds through the middle of the store. To ensure that the tones of the frames and lenses are easy to see, the color palette was designed to be “calm and monochromatic.”

“All the eyewear furniture was designed taking into account the characteristics of each individual pair of glasses,” explained the architects. “The furniture, which is characterized by different heights, presentation forms and processing materials, harmoniously shows the functionality and design of the space.”

Magnifying mirrors hang from the ceiling, screws and nuts are deliberately – but tastefully – visible and speakers are built into the top of the column shelves.
