LOS GATOS – A Los Gatos nudist resort said to be the oldest of its kind west of the Mississippi is for sale. The asking price is $32.8 million and it may no longer have a nudist option in the future.
Lupin Lodge at 20600 Aldercroft Heights Road was founded in 1935 by naturists who valued their privacy, but promotional materials suggest it offers “endless development possibilities, from a recreation center to a spa facility to an eco-adventure resort.”
The Lupin Lodge Naturist Club, a former winery, is for sale through Christie’s International Real Estate Sereno. The property is owned by Lori Kay Stout, whose family has operated the camp for 47 years, according to Christie’s.
The property’s website describes the retreat as “112 acres filled with ancient oaks and redwoods, deer drinking from a babbling brook” in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
It features a restaurant/clubhouse, tennis court, volleyball court, cabins, hiking trails, waterworks and includes “a comprehensive use permit.”
Lupin Lodge will be open to the public for an early “90th Anniversary Party” from August 23-25. Tickets range from $35 to $90.
