Sources – LSU’s John Emery Jr. tore an ACL and is expected to miss the season

LSU running back John Emery Jr. tore an ACL in his left knee during practice on Tuesday and is expected to miss the remainder of the season, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Emery, the Tigers’ starting tailback, tore his right ACL in a win over the Florida Gators on November 11. He played in just seven games last season. In six seasons with the Tigers, he had 1,123 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

Emery, a senior from Saint Rose, Louisiana, ran for 61 yards on 10 attempts in the 27-20 loss to USC in Las Vegas on Sunday.

Nola.com first reported details of Emery’s injury.

Without Emery, the Tigers will rely heavily on sophomore Kaleb Jackson and senior Josh Williams, who combined for 51 yards on 15 carries against the Trojans. Freshman Caden Durham is also available.

Sophomore Trey Holly is suspended from the team after being arrested in connection with a Feb. 9 shooting in Farmerville, Louisiana, in which two people suffered gunshot wounds.

A grand jury indicted Holly on charges of illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrument; a charge of attempted murder was dismissed.

The 18th-ranked Tigers will host FCS program Nicholls on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, SECNetwork+).
