Someone needs to solve America’s all-you-can-eat buffet problem and save this country

USA Today – According to a July 29 press release from the restaurant chain, the “All You Can Eat” deal in question is an offer where you get unlimited (food) for $15.99 per person. When the manager informed the table that this was not the case and that each person would have to pay $15.99 for the deal, “a war of words ensued.” As the couple left the restaurant, a war of words ensued again, the woman was arrested, aAnother person in the group went back to the restaurant and paid the bill in full after noticing that the menu stated that the “All You Can Eat” offer was per person.

It should be illegal to arrest someone in an Applebee’s, it’s like a sanctuary. Everyone who eats at this fine dining establishment is safe.

Who among us hasn’t caused a little rowdiness at Applebee’s on a nice summer evening? The place that sells Long Island Ice Tea (a drink made with 5 different spirits) for $1 doesn’t get a little loud sometimes?

I know what I’m getting into when I walk through those doors. Although $1 alcoholic beverages and endless racks of ribs sound like the foundation of a utopian society, there are people trying to abuse a perfect system. Which is crazy, because endless neighborhood food for $15… in this economy!? That’s already a bargain, no reason to get greedy. That’s how a good thing turns into a bad thing.

All of this falls to the politicians. We used to be a real country with established all-you-can-eat rules that we worked on at our local Pizza Hut buffet. Then they got rid of the buffet and we forgot who we are as a society. Unfortunately, the cost of an all-you-can-eat option puts businesses at risk. Red Lobster had to close a number of locations because they were losing too much money on endless shrimp. How are we supposed to be the best Americans we can be if we don’t stuff ourselves until we’re sick?

Chinese restaurants now offer an endless buffet of everything from General Tso’s to hamburgers to soft serve ice cream, and yet are financially stable. China is superior to the United States in every way.

That’s why politicians have to step in. If the government was willing to protect the banks, why doesn’t it also protect the fine dining restaurants that truly serve the American people? Why doesn’t it support the restaurant that is willing to fill my stomach with the daily calories needed by an adult bull elephant? At the same time, banks are hardly willing to give me a loan so I can buy a house with a billion percent interest rate.

That woman arrested at an Applebee’s in Indiana could have been any of us. It’s not her fault, she’s the victim of lax endless buffet laws and a society that doesn’t care about people trying to help this country grow. So from now on, every election, I’m voting for the candidate who promises to make the all-you-can-eat buffet great again.
