WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — After completely dominating Purdue in the first half, Notre Dame opted for a new offensive unit. But it turned out that it didn’t matter at all. The Irish scored again. The new half was the same as the old one.
After the Boilermakers lost possession early in the second half, the Irish had excellent field position. Steve Angeli came onto the field for his first start of the season and needed just two plays to hit Cooper Flanagan for a 28-yard touchdown:
It certainly won’t be lost on Irish fans that Angeli has done what Riley Leonard hasn’t done in the first two and a half games: throw a touchdown pass. Is it silly to assume that this means the Irish have a real quarterback controversy on their hands? Regardless, this definitely won’t appease those clamoring for a change.
Here are some reactions to the touchdown pass that we found on social media:
Corey Bailey
If @NDFootball If he plans to throw the ball like that for the rest of the year, Riley Leonard is our man.
However, after just one round, we should bet on Steve Angeli.
