Chart-topping artist Benson Boone performed an intimate show at the Silver Lining Lounge in the Moxy Hotel on the Lower East Side this week before appearing at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Stars in the audience included DJ Kygo, Alex Pall of the Chainsmokers and Tucker Halpern of the popular duo Sofi Tukker.
Boone, who is in town Wednesday night for the VMAs, gave about 200 fans an exclusive preview of his unreleased song “Take Me Home” and sang his hit “Beautiful Things,” which topped the Billboard charts.
He also sent a lovely greeting to a fan’s son!
“A woman called out to him between songs to say ‘hi’ to her son, explaining that he was only 10 and therefore not allowed in the bar,” a spy told us.
“You have a 10-year-old son? Girl, you look great,” Boone replied before looking into the camera and delivering the message, “Hey Aiden, I’m sorry your mom is here and not you. But I love you.”
After the show, Boone stood outside for 45 minutes, waiting for his fans in a long line.
A spy saw the pop singer talking to a woman for a long time and hugging her for a long time while she cried hysterically with excitement.
When asked what he said, the young fan replied that she was so shocked by the encounter with her idol that she told us: “I don’t know” and continued to cry.
On Wednesday, Boone will perform for MTV at the UBS Arena, where he is also nominated for the prestigious Moon Person (formerly Moonman) award for best new artist.
