Simone Biles is emotional as she reveals that she and her husband will spend some time apart

It’s been a long summer for Simone Biles, who competed in the Paris Olympics and then returned home to continue building her dream home, but now that the season is coming to an end, she’s experiencing a bittersweet moment.

Her husband Jonathan Owens begins the NFL season as a safety for the Chicago Bears, meaning he will be away while he focuses on training. The couple will be back to a long-distance relationship as Jonathan heads to the Windy City where the Bears play the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 8.

Simone captured the moment on Instagram with some Polaroids of the duo and wrote: “See you in a few weeks.”

In the meantime, Simone will be taking part in the Gold Over America Tour alongside fellow gymnasts Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles and Hezly Rivera. The tour begins on September 16 in Oceanside, California and is scheduled to end on November 3.

This won’t be the first time Simone and Jonathan have been in a long-distance relationship, as shortly after their wedding in April 2023, the football star traveled across the country to play for the Green Bay Packers.

The couple celebrated their wedding in Cabo San Lucas in May 2023 and then began a long-distance relationship “less than a week later” when Jonathan signed the contract in Green Bay.

She told Today at the time that they “cherish the moments we spend together,” adding that her husband was “doing great in Green Bay.”

The couple are incredibly supportive despite their long-distance careers. Jonathan even flew to Paris to support his wife during the Olympics. He was seen in the stands with his in-laws Nellie and Ronald, wearing a t-shirt with her face on it like he was her biggest fan.

Of his support for Simone, he said: “I like to look at it from an athlete’s perspective, because that’s how you can make it big in any sport: you just have to be consistent and do the same thing consistently well every day,” he said. “You know what I mean? I love watching it and I love being out there and being a cheerleader.”

The couple has three dogs – Lilo, Rambo and Zeus. Before Jonathan left, the sporty duo spent some quality time together and took the dogs to a ranch to see some horses as one big, happy family.
