Shilo Sanders won’t be able to bounce back from injury in Colorado football

Via SI’s Jason Jones reports that Shilo Sanders will not return to the field for Colorado football until he is “physically ready.” Sanders is out with one Broken forearm suffered in Week 2 against Nebraska in Lincoln.

“If Shilo is not ready to play this weekend, Coach Prime has expressed the value of a bye to give him an additional week to ensure he is fully recovered before returning to the field,” Jones wrote. “The team is focused on the long-term health of its players and Shilo’s return will only take place when he is physically ready. However, the possibility of his return against UCF remains on the table.”

While Coach Prime discussed Shilo’s recovery plan during UCF game week, it didn’t sound like he was pushing his middle son back onto the field any time soon.

“Shilo is a fighter,” Deion Sanders introduced, before saying: “He has worked hard to come back, but we will have to see how he feels later in the week. If he’s not ready, we’ll give him another week to fully recover.

There will come a point where Shilo may decide to sit out eight games to get his redshirt. Maintaining eligibility for an additional year can extend the “prime time” era in Boulder and increase his NFL stock for the 2026 draft.

His injuries and legal problems are more common today than ever before. If another year goes by and he stays out of trouble, he could become a hotter commodity for NFL front offices.

Or a hot commodity at all. It is unclear whether there is interest in Shilo beyond a package deal with Shedeur.
