Second arrest after car theft at gas station in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Kentucky (WKYT) – A second arrest has been made in connection with a shocking crime in Jackson County.

The sheriff’s office has not yet given us the name of that person. However, we do know that the first suspect, Michael Edwards, is accused of stealing a woman’s car and then hitting and killing her with their truck on Saturday.

According to London police, he also attempted to break into a person’s home, pointed a gun at the person and then ran into the woods.

Michelle House works at the Annville gas station where officials say the incident occurred. She says the victim, Tracy Clemmons, came by every day.

House arrived at work on Saturday when her friend’s ambulance left. She learned what had happened from the security cameras.

“Her truck was parked here, her black truck. There was a black Nissan parked right here. He jumped out the back of the Nissan, on the passenger side, jumped into Tracy’s truck, she came out the door, Tracy was here, she grabbed the door, he takes off and drags her all the way here. She hits the ground, and this is where my friend’s life was taken,” House said.

London police arrested Edwards with the help of Manchester police.

The charges include auto theft and murder. Bail is set at $1 million.
