Sean Strickland gives insight into Alex Pereira’s sparring but admits he’s still worried about the left hook

On Saturday evening, Alex Pereira will attempt to defend his light heavyweight throne against Khalil Rountree at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

And to ensure he’s in peak condition, he’s enlisted the help of his old rival Sean Strickland to give him the tough rounds in the gym.

In the time since their argument, the two have developed a close bond and often help each other hone their craft.

Pereira recently uploaded a YouTube video in which his American friend talks about what it’s really like to train with him.

Referring to the reasons for his death last time, Strickland said: “Today is going to be a big one. It’ll be fun, a little scary; Keep your left hand up.”

The video then shows a clip from the famous knockout of their fight, in which the 205-pound king slammed “Tarzan” onto the screen with his trademark punch.

The California native likely remembered that moment and confessed, “I don’t want to coach you today, bro.”

After releasing his famous phrase “Chama,” the video transitioned to sparring, with Pereira regularly landing his left hook.

Following the session, Strickland stated, “I feel like I did a really good job, but he would have blown me away right away.” That’s why I hate fighting him, bro; When I feel like I’m doing well and maybe winning the round, he just hits me with some shit.”
